In 1901 William Daniel Pfeiffer, owner of Glenairlie next door, also bought this land and had The Pines constructed. However, as the family lived in the larger Glenairlie house, it can be assumed that this building was erected specifically to rent.

In 1920, William Pfeiffer sold this cottage for £300 to the Buckett family. James Buckett reportedly owned one of Pambula’s first cars, carrying mail and passengers between Eden and Bega, also transporting the Boggy Creek cricket team to matches around the district. Situated in a prominent position on the hillside overlooking the Pambula Flats, The Pines makes a positive contribution to the town’s historic atmosphere. An excellent example of the domestic weatherboard architecture that once dominated Pambula, it remains an important and identifiable local landmark.
